In the early 1970’s, Martial Arts Student Wally Cornett started search for the mysteries of this ancient Chinese martial arts way of life. During his quest, in 1997, Student Cornett was fortunate and found his answers when he met Sifu Chuck Gross, who is the Head Instructor of the “Tennessee Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu Association” located in Gallatin, TN. Student Cornett wisely begin his studies, with Sifu Gross, learning the secret art of the Jook Lum Temple Chinese Boxing, which is a Southern Praying Mantis Kung Fu style. On, 14 December 2014, Student Wally Cornett was promoted to the rank of Sifu. By, 1 August 2015, Sifu Cornett opened his own school, Cornett’s Secret Art of Praying Mantis Kung Fu. 

Sifu Cornett teaches a style called Jook Lum Temple Chinese Boxing. This Southern Praying Mantis style focuses on fantastic hand techniques, but in addition to the techniques themselves, Sifu Cornett also consider it his solemn duty to pass down the entire philosophy of this way of life to students determined to excel in their studies.
